The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bauchi State has
established a strategic committee to prepare for the 2027 general elections.
This was disclosed by the state party chairman,
Samaila Burga, shortly after a stakeholders’ meeting held at the Government
House in Bauchi.
According to Burga, the meeting was convened to
address key issues surrounding the party’s primaries and overall positioning
ahead of the next election cycle, especially in light of internal challenges at
the national level.
He explained that the newly formed committee, which
includes representatives from all local government areas, has been given one
week to complete its assignment and submit recommendations.
The committee is chaired by the Governor of Bauchi
State, Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, and is tasked with developing strategies to
ensure party unity, strengthen governance structures, and improve the PDP’s
chances in future elections.
Burga noted that the group will also examine ways to
maintain political stability across various levels of government and ensure the
party fields strong candidates capable of winning elections.
The development comes as the PDP’s national
convention, led by Mohammed Abdulrahman’s caretaker committee, takes place in
Abuja, with notable party figures, including Nyesom Wike, in attendance.
