Burnley FC have confirmed that manager Scott Parker
has left his role by mutual consent after the club’s relegation from the
Premier League.
In an official statement released on Thursday, the
club said the decision followed discussions between Parker and the board after
relegation was confirmed last week. Both parties agreed it was the right time
to end his tenure at Turf Moor.
Despite the disappointing end, Parker’s time at
Burnley included a remarkable achievement. He led the team to promotion during
the 2024/25 season, recording a 31-match unbeaten run and keeping 30 clean
sheets. The club also reached 100 points and conceded just 16 goals, finishing
second in the EFL Championship behind Leeds United.
Burnley expressed gratitude for Parker’s
professionalism and contribution, noting that he departs with the respect of
everyone connected to the club.
Former player Mike Jackson will step in as interim
manager, supported by the current coaching staff, for the club’s final four
matches of the season. His first game in charge will be an away fixture against
Leeds United.
Parker, who took over in 2024 after the departure of
Vincent Kompany, guided Burnley back to the top flight in his debut season.
However, the team struggled this campaign, collecting just 20 points from 34
matches.
Their relegation was sealed following a 1–0 defeat to
Manchester City, leaving them second from bottom in the standings.
The Clarets will face Leeds United, Aston Villa,
Arsenal, and Wolverhampton Wanderers in their remaining fixtures before
preparing for life back in the Championship.
