The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has
appointed Malian referee Boubou Traore to take charge of the highly
anticipated Group C encounter between Nigeria’s Super Eagles and Tunisia
at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
The crucial fixture, scheduled for Saturday, is
Nigeria’s second group-stage match and is expected to play a decisive role in
shaping the qualification chances of both teams.
CAF has also named Senegalese official Issa Sy
as the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) for the encounter, highlighting the
importance attached to the match by the continental football body.
Nigeria and Tunisia are two of Africa’s most respected
football nations, and their meeting is widely regarded as one of the standout
fixtures of the group phase. With both sides pushing for a place in the
knockout stage, the clash is expected to be fiercely contested.
The appointment of experienced match officials is
aimed at ensuring fair and effective officiating as the Super Eagles look to
build momentum in the competition, while the Carthage Eagles seek a positive
