Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernández has been disciplined
by Chelsea FC after comments suggesting interest in a move to Real Madrid
during the international break.
Midfielder Dropped for Key Fixtures
Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior confirmed that Fernández
will miss two upcoming matches as part of the sanction.
The Argentine will be unavailable for the FA Cup
quarter-final clash against Port Vale, as well as the Premier League fixture
against Manchester City.
Club Emphasises Discipline and Culture
Rosenior expressed disappointment over the
midfielder’s remarks, stating that while Fernández remains respected, his
comments crossed a line.
He stressed that the decision was made collectively by
the club’s leadership and players, highlighting the importance of maintaining
discipline and team values.
Door Still Open for Return
Despite the sanction, the manager made it clear that
the situation is not permanent, describing it as a corrective measure rather
than a long-term issue.
He added that the club still values Fernández and
expects him to remain part of the squad moving forward.
No Action Against Cucurella
Meanwhile, teammate Marc Cucurella will not face
punishment after publicly criticising the club’s recruitment strategy and
questioning past managerial decisions.
Rosenior revealed that discussions had been held with
the defender and that he remains committed to the team.
Chelsea’s Current Form
Chelsea have recorded 10 wins in 19 matches since
Rosenior took charge, with the team currently sitting sixth in the league
standings.
They remain in contention for a Champions League spot,
trailing fourth-placed Aston Villa by six points.
