The 6th edition of the Sportsville Special Recognition
Award, scheduled for March 28, 2026, in Lagos, will be chaired by the Chairman
of Brila Group, Dr Larry Izamoje.
The announcement was made by the Chairman of the
Organizing Committee, Harry Iwuala, who confirmed the appointment after
finalizing arrangements with Dr Izamoje. The news was met with widespread
excitement among committee members and event organizers.
“This is definitely cheering news for all of us. For
Dr Izamoje to chair this year’s award speaks to the prestige and credibility of
the Sportsville Special Recognition Award,” Iwuala said. “On behalf of the
Organizing Committee and the management of Sportsville, we sincerely thank Dr
Izamoje for this honour. We look forward to a thrilling ceremony on March 28th
in Lagos.”
Dr Izamoje, who was a recipient of the maiden edition
in 2020, expressed admiration for the award’s growing credibility. “The
organizers are doing a great job with this annual ceremony. I have attended one
or two editions and left each time with positive and memorable impressions.
Kudos to my brother Frank Ilaboya for introducing this to our sports space,” he
said.
The Sportsville Special Recognition Award debuted in
2020 and has since become a notable fixture in Nigeria’s sports calendar.
Organizers will unveil this year’s nominees during a world press conference in
Lagos on Tuesday, March 10, 2026.
