The Federal Government has introduced a new “fly now, pay later” initiative aimed at helping Nigerians cope with rising airfare costs by allowing them to book domestic flights and pay in instalments.

The programme, driven by the Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation, is being implemented in partnership with MyVisaro and Alert Microfinance Bank. It is part of efforts to expand access to structured and responsible consumer credit across the country.

Under the scheme, eligible Nigerians—specifically those who are employed—can book local flights and spread payments over time. Participating airlines include Air Peace, Arik Air, Green Africa, and Dana Air.

The payment structure is interest-free but requires an initial 30 percent deposit, with the remaining balance split into three monthly instalments. However, users may incur penalties for late payments, which could also affect their eligibility for future services.

How to Get Started

To access the service, users must register on the Visaro platform:

  • Visit the Visaro website and create a personal account
  • Verify your email and input your National Identification Number (NIN)
  • Complete your profile with personal details and phone verification
  • Upload a profile picture and create a username

Account Setup Requirements

Before gaining access, users must complete additional verification steps, including:

  • Bank Verification Number (BVN) verification
  • Facial (liveness) verification
  • Linking a bank account (which automatically creates an Alert wallet)
  • Providing employment details
  • Linking a debit card

How the Scheme Works

  • Log into your dashboard and select the aviation option
  • Book a flight through available airline partners
  • Choose the “Buy Now, Pay Later” option at checkout
  • Pay 30 percent upfront and spread the balance across three months

The initiative is expected to ease financial pressure on travellers and improve accessibility to air travel, particularly for urgent or essential trips across Nigeria.
