The Federal Government has launched a digital platform that enables Nigerians to report fraudulent activities in housing estates, submit evidence, and track the progress of their complaints.

The initiative, overseen by the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development (FMHUD), was announced in a statement released on Tuesday. The portal, accessible via https://reports.fmhud.gov.ng, provides a secure and user-friendly system for citizens to file complaints on fraudulent practices in the housing sector.

According to the Ministry, complaints will be reviewed in collaboration with professional bodies, law enforcement agencies, and the judiciary.

Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, said the portal aligns with the 2012 National Housing Policy, which calls for stronger regulation of the industry, certification of developers, and the protection of citizens from fraud.

“The platform enables users to submit complaints and share relevant evidence and information on fraudulent practices in the real estate sector,” the Ministry noted.

Additional Oversight Tools
Alongside the fraud reporting system, the Ministry also introduced the Contract Performance and Compliance Project Monitoring System (CPCPMS) to improve oversight of housing projects.

The CPCPMS allows real-time tracking of project progress, contractor performance assessment, and centralized storage of project documents, payment certificates, and Bills of Quantities.

Deputy Director and Head of the ICT Department, Dr. Marcus Amiolemen, said the platforms underscore the Ministry’s commitment to citizen protection and improved service delivery. He added that the fraud reporting system was developed in partnership with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to ensure effective case tracking and enforcement.

The launch also featured technical demonstrations by consultants Messrs Freestone Investments Limited and Messrs Prunedge Development Technologies Limited. The Ministry emphasized that fraudulent practices in housing estates will no longer be tolerated, warning that offenders will face the full weight of the law.

Background
The launch builds on the Ministry’s previous digital initiatives, including the Renewed Hope Housing Online Portal, introduced in May 2024, which manages applications, marketing, and sales under the Renewed Hope Cities and Estates Programme. That platform allows users to register, search for properties, and explore mortgage and payment options.

With the Housing Fraud Reporting Portal, the Federal Government aims to strengthen transparency, protect citizens, and enhance accountability across Nigeria’s real estate and housing sector.
