The Katsina State Police Command has confirmed the
arrest of four individuals linked to a violent mob attack that resulted in the
death of a man identified as KC Joe in Kokami village, located within Danja
Local Government Area of Katsina State.
According to a statement issued by the command’s
spokesperson, Abubakar Sadiq, the incident was triggered by a disagreement
between the deceased, KC Joe, and another resident, Ibrahim Auwal. What began
as a minor altercation quickly escalated into a deadly confrontation.
During the clash, Joe allegedly stabbed Auwal,
identified as Ibrahim Khalil Auwal, inflicting serious injuries. The injured
man was immediately rushed to Abdullahi Makama Hospital in Dabai, where he
later died while receiving treatment.
News of Auwal’s death sparked outrage within the
community, leading to a swift and violent reaction from local youths. In
retaliation, a group reportedly tracked down KC Joe, attacked him, and killed
him. The situation further escalated when the mob allegedly set his body on
fire along a nearby highway.
Police authorities confirmed that four suspects have
been taken into custody in connection with the mob action, while investigations
are ongoing to identify and apprehend other individuals involved in the
incident.
Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of
Police in the state, Ali Fage, strongly condemned the act of jungle justice. He
urged residents to seek lawful means of resolving disputes and to report
incidents to security agencies rather than resorting to violence.
The police chief also reassured the public that the
case will be thoroughly investigated and that all those found culpable will be
brought to justice.
