Erling
Haaland is back in training for Manchester City before the mouth-watering FA
Cup tie against Tottenham on Friday night (8pm). The former Borussia Dortmund
striker and John Stones are sharpening up their fitness after both players
missed a chunk of games over the New Year period due to injury setbacks.
Haaland, 23,
has been nursing a troublesome foot problem. Stones, meanwhile, is back in
contention for the treble-winners after recovering from an ankle blow he picked
up against Everton last month.
First-choice goalkeeper Ederson (unspecified) and Manuel Akanji (leg) will also have to be checked on before their fourth round showdown. Here, we take a closer look at the latest news from City's treatment room, with predicted return dates for Haaland and three other players;

What Guardiola
has said: "He had a
big knock. I didn't speak with the doctors [after the Newcastle game]. He
didn't walk well as he left the pitch, but if it's just a knock he will be fine
because we have a break for 10 days. If there's some damage, the doctors will
tell me."
Manuel Akanji
Injury: Leg
Predicted return
date: February 2024
Akanji limped off in the FA Cup win
over Huddersfield and no time-frame has been put on his return. Guardiola is
expected to speak about the Swiss defender - and his other injured players -
when he chats with the media in his pre-match press conference for the
Tottenham match.
John Stones
Injury: Ankle
Possible return
date: January 26 vs
Tottenham (A)
Stones picked up an ankle injury
during the Premier
League game with his former club Everton last month. Having missed
four matches in all competitions with that setback, the England regular,
29, has now returned to training to offer Guardiola
a timely selection boost. Haaland also joined in with pre-match preparations.
