State APC governorship primary after polling 657,917 votes.
The result was announced at the collation centre at
the APC Secretariat in Ikeja by the Returning Officer, retired General Jonathan

Temlong said Hamzat polled 657,917 votes to defeat his

were accredited for the election.
According to the returning officer, the primary was
conducted peacefully across the state’s 245 wards in the 20 local government
areas. Temlong described the exercise as a family affair, saying it was
transparent and conducted in line with APC guidelines. He also thanked the
Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials for monitoring the
process.
He provided votes by local government area, with
Hamzat recording the following figures: 16,257 (Agege); 31,079

Declaring the result, Temlong announced Hamzat as the
winner and APC candidate for the 2027 governorship election in Lagos State.
Earlier, the Lagos State APC Chairman, Cornelius
Ojelabi, commended the national electoral committee and local organising
committee for conducting a credible exercise. He also praised party members for
their orderly conduct and said the successful primary strengthened the party’s
unity ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Ojelabi added that the presidential primary election
would hold through direct primaries in the state’s 245 wards.
In his acceptance speech, Hamzat thanked President
Bola Tinubu, APC leaders, and party members for the confidence placed in him.
He pledged to sustain the developmental strides of the APC-led administration
in Lagos State and promised inclusive governance if elected governor in 2027.
It was earlier reported that at least four aspirants
had purchased nomination forms for the governorship contest, but the party
leadership endorsed Hamzat. Two aspirants, Abdul-Azeez Adediran (Jandor) and
Samuel Ajose, later withdrew from the race.
