The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun,
has decorated newly promoted senior police officers in a ceremony that
underscored his commitment to rewarding diligence, professionalism, and
exemplary service.
According to a statement by the Force Public
Relations Officer, ACP Benjamin Hundeyin, the event featured the
elevation of one Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) to Deputy
Inspector-General of Police (DIG), four Commissioners of Police (CPs)
to AIGs, and eleven Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) to substantive
Commissioners of Police.
Among those decorated were DIG Mohammed Dankwara,
AIGs Denimen Abibo, Umar Madaki, Nkechi Eze, and Garba
Nzukwen. Others included CPs Naziru Kankarofi, Nendel Gomwalk,
Tijani Fatai, Aniefok Akpan, and Moorkwap Dongshal, among
others.
Hundeyin noted that the officers were part of 923
personnel who successfully passed the rigorous and transparent promotion
exercise conducted by the Police Service Commission (PSC), which
included written examinations and interviews, following recommendations by the
IGP.
Dignitaries in Attendance
The event was graced by several dignitaries, including
Senator Simon Lalong (former Plateau State Governor and Senator
representing Plateau South), Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State, Senator
Abdul-Aziz Yari (former Zamfara Governor), Senator Tony Nwoye
(Anambra North), Senator Iya Abbas (Adamawa Central), and Senator Ede
Dafinone (Delta Central).
Also present were the Minister of State for
Regional Development (FCT), Hon. Ahmadu; Permanent Secretary,
Ministry of Defence, Ambassador Gabriel Aduda; and Alhaji (Chief)
Dr. Abdul-Raheem Oladimeji, OFR, Chairman of the Board of Trustees and
Founder of Al-Hikmah University. Members of the Force Management Team,
serving and retired senior officers, families, and friends of the newly
promoted officers also attended.
IGP Charges Officers to Lead With
Integrity
In his remarks, IGP Egbetokun congratulated the
newly promoted officers and urged them to uphold the highest standards of
professionalism, integrity, and fairness in their duties.
He called on them to embrace community-oriented and
intelligence-led policing, deploy innovative strategies against
emerging security challenges, and serve as role models to their subordinates.
“You must lead with integrity, fairness, and a renewed
commitment to justice. Our mission is to build a police force that earns the
trust and respect of Nigerians,” the IGP said.
