The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB)
has released some results from the 2026 UTME after investigations into
suspected examination malpractice.
The development was disclosed on Thursday in a
statement by JAMB spokesperson Fabian Benjamin on the agency’s X handle.
According to JAMB, results were either cancelled or
released depending on the findings of the board’s investigations. It said some
results have been outright cancelled where evidence of malpractice was
established. Other results were released after the board found no prima facie
case against the affected candidates.
JAMB added that results from centres where its live
monitoring team observed suspicious activities, or where adverse reports were
received, remain withheld pending further investigation. It also stated that
any results will be cancelled if sufficient evidence of culpability is
established.
The 2026 UTME started on April 16 and ended on April
23, with over two million candidates registered for the Computer-Based Test
worldwide.
Candidates whose results have not yet been released
were advised to check their status by sending UTMERESULT to 55019 or 66019
using the same phone number used for registration.
JAMB also released the list of top scorers for the
2026 UTME, with a candidate to the University of Lagos (UNILAG) leading the
chart.
For admissions, JAMB retained 150 as the university
admission cut-off mark for the 2026/27 academic session and set 100 as the
cut-off mark for polytechnics.
In addition, JAMB said candidates seeking admission
into Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) programmes in colleges of education
will no longer be required to sit for the UTME. Instead, the new guidelines
require prospective students to have a minimum of four O-level credits in the
school certificate examination to qualify for admission.
