The Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) has
sanctioned Katsina United for multiple breaches of the NPFL26 Framework &
Rules during their Matchday 12 fixture against Barau FC on Saturday.
The league cited several violations, including:
- Inadequate
security, allowing unauthorized access to restricted areas.
- Improper
conduct of supporters, resulting in harassment of Barau FC players and
match officials.
- Throwing
harmful objects onto the pitch, which caused injuries to visiting players.
- Behaviour
capable of bringing the game into disrepute.
Sanctions imposed on Katsina United include:
- Relocation
of home matches to Jos and playing behind closed doors.
- Fines:
- N1
million each for throwing objects, failing to ensure proper conduct, and
bringing the game into disrepute (total N3 million).
- N2
million for failing to provide adequate security.
- Compensation:
- N2
million each for treatment of injured players, damages to away team
buses, and for holding match officials and the away team hostage (total
N4 million).
The club has 48 hours from the date of the notice to appeal
the sanctions.
