British-Canadian actor Kiefer Sutherland has been arrested following an alleged assault on a ride-share driver in Hollywood.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), the incident occurred in the early hours of Monday, January 12. Police said Sutherland entered a ride-share vehicle, physically assaulted the driver, and made criminal threats. Authorities confirmed that the victim did not sustain any injuries.
BBC News reported that the *24* star was released after posting a $50,000 (£37,000) bond and is scheduled to appear in court on February 2.
Sutherland has previously faced legal trouble. In September 2007, he was arrested for driving under the influence after failing a field sobriety test. He later pleaded no contest and was sentenced to 48 days in jail.
Reflecting on that experience in a 2022 interview with *NME*, Sutherland described county jail as a harsh environment, saying, “This isn’t like prison, this is kind of a warehouse.”
Kiefer Sutherland rose to fame with roles in films such as *The Lost Boys, Young Guns, and Flatliners, before achieving global recognition as Jack Bauer in the hit TV series 24, which ran from 2001 to 2010 and was briefly revived in 2014. His performance earned him both an Emmy and a Golden Globe Award.
He later starred in the political drama *Designated Survivor* from 2016 to 2019.
Sutherland is the son of legendary actor Donald Sutherland, who passed away in 2024 at the age of 88.
