The Kwara State Police Command has confirmed a violent
bandit attack that occurred inside a church in the Eruku community on Tuesday,
November 18, at around 6 p.m.
According to an official statement, the Divisional
Police Officer of the Eruku Division, alongside his team and local vigilantes,
immediately mobilised after hearing gunshots from the outskirts of the town.
Their rapid response forced the attackers to flee into the surrounding bush.
A search of the area led to the discovery of two
victims who had been fatally shot.
Additionally, a vigilante member, Segun Alaja,
sustained gunshot injuries and was rushed to ECWA Hospital, Eruku, for
urgent medical treatment.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Adekimi Ojo,
commended the swift reaction of the police operatives and local vigilante team.
He assured residents that security forces remain fully committed to tracking
down the perpetrators.
“We will not relent until these hoodlums are
completely decimated,” the CP vowed, urging the public to stay calm and
cooperate with ongoing security efforts.
