Lagos Police Arrest 26 Suspects Over Counterfeit Currency and Adulterated Diesel

On November 27, 2025, the Lagos State Police Command, in collaboration with Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI), arrested 26 men at Eti-Osa, Lekki in connection with the possession of counterfeit money and the production and sale of adulterated diesel.

During the operation, authorities recovered ?951,300 in fake currency. Preliminary investigations revealed that:

  • Abubakar Rilean (40), Abubakar Abdullahi (35), Adamu Ibrahim Jora (35), and Michael John (30) were involved in producing and distributing adulterated diesel, known locally as “rice and beans”, sold to unsuspecting motorists.
  • Ichapi Moses (30) and Samson Adike (28) were identified as suppliers of the adulterated petroleum products.

CP Olohundare Jimoh, Lagos State Commissioner of Police, warned that anyone engaging in criminal activities that threaten public safety, damage vehicles, or disrupt economic stability will face strict legal action. He reassured residents that the state remains safe and the police are actively tackling crime.
