Manchester City have reaffirmed their determination to
prove their innocence following reports about decisions reached by an
independent tribunal over the Premier League’s charges against the club.
The tribunal’s reported findings emerged on Friday,
but the Premier League has yet to make an official announcement. There is also
no confirmed information regarding whether City will face any punishment.
The Abu Dhabi-backed club has consistently denied the
allegations, and City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak reiterated the club’s
position in a statement released on Saturday.
Al Mubarak said the legal process was still ongoing
and insisted that the club remained confident it would be cleared of the
allegations.
He explained that City could not disclose further
details because of the confidentiality surrounding the proceedings, while
stressing that the club would continue to respect the legal process.
The chairman also dismissed the growing speculation
surrounding the case, saying City’s position had not changed despite the
attention and various conclusions being drawn publicly.
According to Al Mubarak, the club has overcome
challenges in the past and remains focused on protecting its progress and
reputation.
Manchester City were charged by the Premier League in
2023 over alleged financial breaches dating back to between 2009 and 2018. The
club has denied the charges throughout the process.
With the tribunal’s reported findings yet to be
officially confirmed by the Premier League, the next steps in the case,
including any potential sanctions and the possibility of an appeal, remain
unclear.
