Dr Emmanuel Ikpeme has been appointed to oversee the secretariat of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) as interim General Secretary following the resignation of key federation officials, including NFF President Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau and General Secretary Dr Mohammed Sanusi.

Ikpeme will take charge of the federation’s secretariat during the transition period as the NFF begins a process aimed at restoring stability to its administration.

Former NFF Director of Media and Communications, Dr Ademola Olajire, has also been appointed interim Deputy General Secretary.

Meanwhile, the National Sports Commission (NSC) has suspended all activities connected to the NFF Elective Congress, which was previously scheduled for September 27.

According to the commission, a new electoral timetable will be announced after comprehensive reforms have been developed in consultation with FIFA and CAF.

The development is part of wider measures to address concerns surrounding the administration and governance of Nigerian football.

Administrators overseeing the country’s various national leagues, including the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), Nigeria National League (NNL), Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) and Nigeria Nationwide League One (NLO), have also been directed to hand over the management of their respective competitions to their Chief Operating Officers.

The directive is intended to ensure that league activities continue without disruption while the NFF undergoes the transition and proposed reforms.
