Niger East Senator Sani Musa Urges Urgent Relief for Flood Victims in Niger State

The Senator representing Niger East Senatorial District, Mohammed Sani Musa, has expressed sympathy to victims of the recent flooding caused by heavy rainfall in parts of Minna, Chanchaga, Bosso and Shiroro Local Government Areas of Niger State.

In a statement, Senator Musa commiserated with families whose homes, businesses, farms, properties and livelihoods were affected by the flooding.

He acknowledged the hardship and uncertainty caused by the disaster and prayed for Allah’s protection, strength and succour for affected residents as they recover from the incident.

The senator also commended the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA) for their prompt response in assessing the extent of the flooding and documenting affected individuals and communities.

According to him, the ongoing assessment is essential to ensuring that relief materials and other forms of assistance reach genuine victims of the disaster.

Musa called for sustained collaboration among government agencies, local authorities and community leaders to reduce the risk of further loss of lives and property.

He assured affected constituents of his support and pledged to advocate for appropriate interventions to ease the impact of the flooding and strengthen preparedness against similar disasters in the future.

The senator also urged authorities to give greater attention to flood-prone communities through improved drainage systems, effective early-warning mechanisms, proper environmental planning and continuous public sensitisation.

Residents living in areas vulnerable to flooding were equally advised to remain vigilant and comply with safety directives issued by emergency management authorities.

Senator Musa prayed for the safety and well-being of the people of Niger State and urged all relevant stakeholders to work together to prevent avoidable disasters and protect vulnerable communities.
