The Nigerian Navy has successfully rescued a kidnapped
victim, Mr Benedict Eze, in Bonny Local Government Area of Rivers State after a
sustained security operation.
The development was confirmed in a statement by AA
Folorunsho, who highlighted the coordinated efforts of naval personnel attached
to Forward Operating Base (FOB) Bonny.
Victim Abandoned by Kidnappers
According to the Navy, the victim—who was abducted on
March 23, 2026, in Aganya Community—was found at Coconut Jetty after being
abandoned by his captors.
The kidnappers reportedly fled due to intense pressure
from ongoing military operations, which included intelligence-led patrols,
technological surveillance, and coordinated land and maritime actions to block
escape routes.
Swift Medical Attention and Reunion
Following his rescue, Eze was taken to a naval medical
facility for evaluation and debriefing before being safely reunited with his
family.
Joint Security Efforts Pay Off
The Navy noted that the successful rescue underscores
the effectiveness of joint operations involving multiple security agencies.
These efforts were aimed at restricting criminal
activities along the Bonny–Port Harcourt waterways and surrounding creeks.
Renewed Commitment to Maritime Security
The operation aligns with directives from the Chief of
Naval Staff, Idi Abbas, to intensify efforts against crime within Nigeria’s
maritime environment.
The Navy reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining
proactive patrols and intelligence-driven operations to safeguard lives and
property while ensuring that criminal elements are brought to justice.
