Veteran Nollywood actor and filmmaker Taiwo Hassan,
popularly known as Ogogo, has reportedly died after battling stage-four
cancer.
His daughter, Kira Hassan, confirmed the news during
an emotional Instagram Live session on Sunday, expressing shock and grief over
her father’s passing.
The development comes just days after Kira publicly
disclosed that the veteran actor was suffering from a terminal illness.
She had explained that the family was not seeking
financial assistance but was appealing for connections to a hospital that could
admit and treat him. According to her, several hospitals had reportedly
declined to admit him because his illness had already reached an advanced
stage.
Ogogo’s death comes about two months before his 67th
birthday.
The veteran actor was widely recognised for his
contributions to Nollywood, particularly Yoruba-language cinema, where he built
a long and influential career as an actor and filmmaker.
His death has sparked an outpouring of grief among
colleagues, fans and admirers of his work, who have continued to pay tribute to
his contributions to the Nigerian film industry.
May his soul rest in peace. Amen.
