The Ondo State Police Command has uncovered a baby
factory operating under the guise of a clinic in Ore, rescuing five
pregnant girls and a baby boy during a coordinated operation.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Public
Relations Officer of the Command, DSP Olushola Ayanlade, who
confirmed that the case, initially reported at the Ore Division, has
been transferred to the Gender-Based Violence Unit for a thorough
investigation.
According to the statement, the operation followed a
report made on October 21, 2025, by a 17-year-old girl, Vivian
Peter from Akwa Ibom State, who told the police she had been
trafficked to Ore under the pretext of being offered a job opportunity.
Upon her arrival, she was reportedly taken to a
facility posing as a medical clinic, which was later discovered to be a baby
factory. There, she allegedly met several other pregnant girls being held
against their will.
Vivian recounted that the operator of the facility, one
Ada Clement, instructed that she be taken to another hospital for a medical
scan, but she managed to escape and reported the incident to the police.
Acting swiftly on the information, operatives from the
Ore Division, in collaboration with the Gender Unit, raided the premises,
rescuing the victims. One of the girls, who had already given birth, is
currently receiving post-natal care at the General Hospital, Ore, while
the others remain in protective custody.
Prime Suspect Confesses
Preliminary investigations revealed that the prime
suspect, Ada Clement, and some of her accomplices confessed to running
the illegal operation. They reportedly admitted that newborns were sold to
individuals seeking children — with male babies priced at ?600,000 and above,
and female babies at ?400,000 and above.
Ayanlade added that the Commissioner of Police,
CP Adebowale Lawal, has ordered a comprehensive and discreet
investigation to ensure all members of the trafficking ring are apprehended
and prosecuted.
He noted that detectives from the Command’s
Gender-Based Violence Unit are currently pursuing other fleeing members of the
syndicate.
CP Lawal reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to the
directives of the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Adeolu
Egbetokun, emphasizing that the Nigeria Police Force remains
resolute in combating human trafficking, child exploitation, and all forms of
gender-based violence.
“The Command will continue to protect the vulnerable
and ensure justice for victims of such heinous crimes,” the statement read.
