The Delta State Police Command has arrested two self-acclaimed native doctors accused of killing two men and dumping their bodies in a soak-away pit in the Owa-Alidinma community, Ika North-East Local Government Area of the state.

The victims — 22-year-old motorcycle rider, Isioma Ugbeje, and his passenger, 20-year-old Liberty Friday — were declared missing after visiting a shrine in the community for spiritual consultation.

According to reports, Friday had gone to seek spiritual help from the herbalist, accompanied by Ugbeje, who conveyed him on his motorcycle. When both men failed to return home, their families raised an alarm and reported the matter to the police.

Following a petition lodged at the Agbor Area Command on October 14, 2025, detectives launched an investigation that led to the discovery of the victims’ decomposing remains inside a soak-away pit within the shrine’s premises.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, said two suspects — Amechi Okwuokenye (20) and Smart Okwuokenye (26), both half-brothers — were arrested in connection with the killings.

Edafe disclosed that Amechi was found hiding inside a refrigerator at the shrine during the police raid. Upon interrogation, he reportedly confessed that he and his brother lured the victims to the shrine, kidnapped them, and demanded a ?10 million ransom. When the ransom plan failed, they allegedly murdered the victims and disposed of their bodies.

Items recovered from the shrine, including blood-stained materials and ritual objects, suggested that the killings might have been connected to ritual or organ-harvesting activities, according to police sources.

Meanwhile, the wife of the slain motorcycle rider, a mother of five, and the family of Liberty Friday have appealed for justice over the gruesome murder of their loved ones.

In an official statement, the Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, assured the public that justice would be served.

“The Command will ensure that justice is delivered in this matter. The suspects are in custody, and the remains of the victims have been deposited at the mortuary for autopsy,” the statement read.
