The Presidency has dismissed reports alleging that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu sacked former Finance Minister Wale Edun and former Minister of Housing and Urban Development Ahmed Musa Dangiwa.

In a statement issued on Tuesday night, presidential media aide Bayo Onanuga clarified that both officials voluntarily left the Federal Executive Council.

According to the statement, Wale Edun resigned on health grounds after recently facing medical challenges. He reportedly submitted his resignation on his 70th birthday and expressed gratitude to the President for the opportunity to serve under the administration’s economic reform agenda.

The statement added that Edun, before his exit was officially announced by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, visited the Presidential Villa for a valedictory meeting with the President, where they held discussions lasting about an hour.

Similarly, Ahmed Musa Dangiwa also tendered his resignation and appreciated the President for the chance to serve in government.

The Presidency stated that President Tinubu commended both former ministers for their contributions to ongoing economic reforms and wished them success in their future endeavours.

It further disclosed that the President has directed the new Minister of Finance, Taiwo Oyedele, to continue strengthening fiscal reforms and advancing economic policies with greater efficiency and innovation.

In addition, the statement revealed that a new nominee for the Ministry of Housing, Muttaqha Rabe Darma, will be forwarded to the Senate for confirmation in due course.
