An overnight attack on Wednesday at a Nigeria-Benin
border immigration post in Bagudu, Kebbi State, left three
officers dead, raising fear among local residents.
Local sources reported that gunmen stormed the post
unexpectedly, opening fire on personnel before fleeing through nearby
bushes. Details of the incident remain sketchy, according to Kebbi
State Police spokesperson Nafiu Abubakar.
This attack follows a recent assault about a month
ago at the Maje border axis, where a Customs officer was killed and
vehicles were burnt, highlighting escalating insecurity along the corridor.
Authorities have linked the violence to the Lakurawa
gang, known for targeting both security personnel and civilians across
Kebbi State. Investigations into the latest attack are ongoing.
