President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed security
agencies to intensify operations following deadly attacks in Plateau State and
Kaduna State.
The incidents, which occurred on Sunday, left about 28
people dead in Anguwan Rukuba, Jos, while another attack in Kahir village,
Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State, resulted in multiple fatalities
and abductions.
In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Bayo
Onanuga, the president condemned the violence, describing the killing and
abduction of wedding guests in Kaduna as a serious violation of national
values.
Tinubu instructed security agencies to pursue those
responsible and also warned against the spread of misinformation that could
worsen tensions and endanger lives.
He reaffirmed that security forces are actively
working to restore order and urged citizens to cooperate with authorities,
including adhering to evacuation and safety directives where necessary.
The president also called for greater use of
intelligence in preventing attacks and ordered that all abducted victims in
Kaduna be rescued without delay.
He commended the efforts of Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang of
Plateau State and Uba Sani of Kaduna State for their response to the crisis,
assuring both states of federal support.
Meanwhile, Governor Mutfwang stated that Plateau would
not be intimidated by the violence, pledging that the state would remain united
and committed to peace.
The attacks have drawn widespread condemnation across
the country, with political figures including Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and
Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso urging authorities to move beyond statements and take
decisive action to end the killings.
