Tottenham Hotspur stormed closer to Champions League
knockout qualification with a dominant 4–0 victory over FC Copenhagen at the
Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, even after playing nearly 40 minutes with 10 men.
Brennan Johnson opened the scoring midway through the
first half, capitalising on a defensive lapse before calmly slotting home from
a tight angle. Spurs doubled their lead after the break through Wilson Odobert,
who finished neatly following Randal Kolo Muani’s unselfish assist.
Johnson’s red card for a late challenge on Marcos
Lopez briefly threatened to derail the hosts, but instead, they responded with
flair. Micky van de Ven produced a stunning solo run from his own half to make
it 3–0, before Cristian Romero set up Joao Palhinha for the fourth.
Richarlison struck the crossbar twice — including from
the penalty spot — as Spurs continued to dominate.
Star Performer
Micky van de Ven (8/10)
— Imperious in defence and electric in attack, his lung-bursting goal capped
off a superb all-round display.
Key Ratings
Tottenham’s commanding performance — arguably their
best under Thomas Frank — leaves them well placed for a deep run in Europe’s
elite competition.
