The Transparency Network has called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to make public its investigation report on the alleged corruption scandal that rocked the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs in 2024.

In a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja, the network’s coordinator, Mr. Imman Onyi, said the prolonged suspense over the probe, which led to the removal of former minister Dr. Betta Edu and other senior officials, had created a “cloud of suspicion.”

Onyi stressed that both politicians and career civil servants had suffered reputational damage due to the unresolved allegations, including the suspended Executive Secretary of the National Social Investment Agency (NSIPA), Mrs. Halima Shehu.

He noted that the officials were suspended to allow thorough investigations, yet nearly two years later, the EFCC had not released its findings.

“We do not believe that the EFCC, with its capacity and the evidence made available during the investigation, has not come to a conclusion on culpability of the real perpetrators,” Onyi said.
“The continued delay has put a cloud on many individuals who were initially fingered and have not been formally exonerated. This does not give confidence to the anti-corruption fight of the government.”

The network insisted that releasing the report would help Nigerians understand who was responsible for the alleged scandal and clear those wrongfully implicated.
