Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have apprehended a
suspected member of Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP)
while attempting to enter Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State.
The suspect, identified as Saina, was arrested around
4:42 p.m. on March 29, 2026, at a security checkpoint in the Kilo Papa area.
The operation was carried out by troops of the 21
Special Armoured Brigade alongside other security personnel stationed at the
checkpoint.
According to security sources, the individual was
intercepted while travelling in a civilian vehicle and drew attention after
being found wearing military-style camouflage trousers.
During initial questioning, the suspect reportedly
claimed to be part of a hybrid force operating in Kumshe. However, further
interrogation suggested that he may be an active member of a terrorist group
and was possibly on a reconnaissance mission.
The suspect has since been transferred to military
intelligence authorities for further investigation.
