Troops of the Nigerian Army have arrested a suspected terrorist at a forward operating base in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State, amid reports of infighting among armed groups in the region.

The suspect was apprehended on April 16, 2026, around 6:45 p.m. at Forward Operating Base Afaka during routine security operations.

Preliminary findings indicate that the individual fled a camp in Sabon Birni following violent clashes between rival group leaders, identified as Dogo Gide and Kabiru.

Security sources revealed that the confrontations are believed to be occurring across the Kachia–Kagarko–Chikun axis, an area that has experienced persistent security challenges in recent times.

The suspect remains in custody as authorities continue investigations to verify his claims and gather further intelligence on the structure and operations of the armed groups.

Officials noted that the internal conflict among the groups may signal fractures within their network, presenting an opportunity for security forces to weaken their activities and restore stability in affected areas.
