Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have killed two terrorists and rescued 62 kidnapped victims during coordinated offensive operations across Kebbi and Zamfara states.

The operations, carried out by troops under Sector 2 of Operation FANSAN YAMMA in collaboration with other security agencies and local vigilante groups, formed part of sustained efforts to dismantle criminal enclaves and restore security across the North-West.

In Kebbi State, troops acting on actionable intelligence ambushed suspected members of the Lakurawa terrorist group near the boundary between Augie Local Government Area of Kebbi State and Binji Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

The operation, which took place at Kerani village, resulted in the elimination of two terrorists. Recovered items included two motorcycles used by the terrorists for mobility.

The neutralised terrorists were reportedly dressed in camouflage uniforms, while the motorcycles were padded with thick blankets and fitted with equipment designed for long-distance movement, including hand tyre pumps.

In a separate operation in Zamfara State, troops raided Munhaye Forest, a known hideout of notorious bandit leader Kachalla Alti, following intelligence reports that several abducted persons were being held in the area.

The operation led to the successful rescue of 62 kidnapped victims, who have since been secured by the troops. Military authorities said efforts are ongoing to reunite the rescued victims with their families.

The latest successes highlight the sustained momentum of Operation FANSAN YAMMA and the determination of troops to degrade terrorist and bandit networks operating across the North-West.

Military authorities reaffirmed that intelligence-led operations, coordinated ground assaults, and strong community collaboration remain central to ongoing efforts to restore lasting peace and protect lives and property in the region.

The Nigerian Army, in collaboration with other security stakeholders, assured residents of the North-West of its continued commitment to sustaining pressure on criminal elements until all identified threats are neutralised and normalcy fully restored.
