Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have repelled a
Boko Haram ambush along the Gubio–Damasak road, killing 13 insurgents and
recovering a cache of weapons and explosives.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, September 3,
2025, near Kareto, as troops were escorting humanitarian trucks. According
to military sources, the terrorists detonated two improvised explosive devices
(IEDs) and opened fire on the convoy.
The soldiers, however, responded swiftly, taking
positions and overwhelming the insurgents with superior firepower. Thirteen
terrorists were neutralised on the spot, while others fled in disarray.
Items recovered during the operation include eight
AK-47 rifles, ten rifle magazines, large quantities of 7.62mm ammunition,
several primed IEDs, detonating cords, and a camel bag.
One soldier sustained minor injuries, while four
Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle tyres were damaged. Two trucks
were also engulfed in flames during the firefight.
The military confirmed that humanitarian supplies were
secured and successfully delivered to Damasak, while clearance
operations continue to deny terrorists freedom of action in the area.
