U.S. President Donald Trump has issued a fresh warning
to Iran, stating that American military forces will remain strategically
positioned around the region and could launch more intense strikes if a
comprehensive agreement between both nations is not achieved.
In a message shared on social media, Trump emphasized
that U.S. troops, aircraft, and naval assets will continue to stay on standby
until what he described as a “real agreement” is fully secured and implemented.
He warned that failure to reach such an agreement could result in escalated
military action on a much larger scale.
The remarks come shortly after a temporary ceasefire
between the United States and Iran, reportedly brokered by Pakistan, brought a
pause to several weeks of hostilities. The truce followed a period of intense
conflict that had raised global concerns about the possibility of a wider war.
Tensions between both nations escalated earlier this
year after joint strikes involving the United States and Israel targeted
Iranian positions. The situation further intensified as Iran responded by
restricting movement through the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial global oil route,
heightening fears of disruptions to international energy supply.
Trump reiterated that maintaining open access to the
Strait of Hormuz remains a key objective, stressing that it is essential for
global stability and trade.
Meanwhile, diplomatic efforts are set to resume, with
peace talks scheduled to take place in Islamabad over the weekend. The
negotiations will be led on the U.S. side by Vice President J.D. Vance,
according to Karoline Leavitt, who confirmed the development.
Leavitt noted that Vance has played a central role in
ongoing discussions and will oversee the next phase of negotiations aimed at
easing tensions and reaching a lasting agreement.
As both sides prepare for talks, global attention
remains fixed on the outcome, with analysts warning that failure to secure a
deal could lead to renewed escalation with far-reaching consequences.
