Uganda’s national football team, the Cranes,
has arrived in Morocco to begin preparations for the 2025 Africa Cup
of Nations (AFCON), as they get ready for a challenging Group stage
that includes Nigeria.
A 17-man contingent, led by Leader of
Delegation Dr. Apollo Ahimbisibwe, touched down after boarding a Qatar
Airways flight. The delegation also comprises head coach Paul Joseph Put,
assistant coach Fred Muhumuza, and a full technical crew responsible for
overseeing the team’s build-up.
The Cranes are set for an 11-day intensive training
camp, which will feature two international friendly matches aimed at
fine-tuning tactics and strengthening team chemistry ahead of the continental
competition.
The remaining 13 players, who are currently
with clubs abroad, are expected to join the squad in Morocco directly.
Uganda will kick off their AFCON 2025 campaign
against Tunisia, before facing Nigeria and Tanzania in
what promises to be a competitive group.
