Victor Attah International Airport, Uyo, has
officially resumed night flight operations following the completion of
major upgrades to its navigational aids and lighting systems.
Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, confirmed
the development in a statement on his official X handle on Wednesday,
October 1, 2025.
Governor Eno said he had directed the Ibom Airport
Development Company to complete the overhaul by September 30, a
deadline which was met on schedule.
“I am pleased to announce that night flight operations
have been fully restored at Victor Attah International Airport. Last week, I
directed the Ibom Airport Development Company to complete the overhaul of
navigational aids and lighting systems by September 30, and I am glad to report
that the deadline was met,” Eno stated.
He commended the Nigerian Airspace Management
Agency (NAMA) and the airport’s management for their commitment to ensuring
smooth delivery of the project.
With this upgrade, Ibom Air and other carriers
can now operate seamlessly day and night, enhancing travel convenience for
passengers and giving airlines greater scheduling flexibility.
Governor Eno described the development as a milestone
in Akwa Ibom’s aviation and tourism agenda, citing the forthcoming ARISE
Resorts commissioning and ongoing aviation projects, including the state’s
Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facility.
