Super Eagles and Galatasaray striker, Victor Osimhen,
expressed his delight after playing a pivotal role in his team’s victory over
Eyüpspor, helping to strengthen their bid for the Turkish Super Lig title.
The 26-year-old first set up Roland Sallai for the
opening goal in the 29th minute at the Recep Tayyip Erdo?an Stadyumu,
delivering a perfect header towards the far post that Sallai tapped in. Osimhen
then got on the scoresheet himself, striking in the 71st minute to seal a
crucial three points for Okan Buruk’s side.
Substitute Álvaro Morata also impressed, coming off
the bench to score a brace, ending a five-game goal drought.
Osimhen’s goal marked his 31st strike in all
competitions this season for Galatasaray, matching his career-best tally from
the 2022/2023 season when he led Napoli to their first Serie A title in over
three decades. He has also provided eight assists this campaign.
Speaking after the match, the former Napoli star
expressed his happiness:
“I’m very happy because we won. Winning this match was
very important. We needed more points. I’m very happy to have contributed with
one goal and one assist. I’m also happy for Morata. These points are very
important on the path to the championship. As Galatasaray, we are focused on
ourselves and approach each match separately. We will look forward to the next
match,”
