The Yobe State Hisbah Commission has announced a ban on male-female interactions in public, night gatherings, and certain social events across Yobe State.

The directive, which takes immediate effect, was disclosed by the commission’s Executive Chairman, Yahuza Hamza Abubakar, in a statement issued on Thursday, March 19, 2026.

According to Abubakar, the move is driven by security concerns and the need to uphold Islamic moral values in line with Shari’a law. He described activities such as inappropriate interactions between men and women, reckless driving, and night gatherings as inconsistent with Islamic teachings and state regulations.

The commission also suspended all Sallah-related events and public gatherings deemed contrary to Islamic principles.

Event centre owners and operators have been directed to strictly comply with the new rules or face sanctions. The commission further called on community leaders, parents, and youth groups to support enforcement efforts.

Abubakar emphasized that the directive aligns with the commission’s mandate to promote moral conduct and ensure adherence to the laws guiding the state.

Residents have been urged to observe the regulations as authorities move to reinforce discipline and social order across the state.
