Former Deputy National Secretary of the All
Progressives Congress (APC), Oji Ngofa, has declared that the defecting
members of the Rivers State House of Assembly have
effectively forfeited their positions, during a recent appearance on
Symfoni TV from 3:34.
“As far as my understanding of the law is concerned,
they are not members of the Rivers State House of Assembly. They have
voluntarily vacated their seats unless the issues in court say otherwise,”
Ngofa stated firmly. He emphasized the current functionality of the state
legislature without these members, adding, “As far as I’m concerned, the state
has been operating without them. They are not members of the Rivers State House
of Assembly.”
The former APC official further stressed that public
trust in these lawmakers has been severely compromised. “And of course, we
have lost faith in them , and I think that’s even more important than the
position of the law, if you ask me,” he declared.
Ngofa concluded by questioning the legitimacy of their
representative roles, stating, “Because if you’re representing somebody who
doesn’t think that you represent their interest, whatever you do there is of no
use. You’ve lost that quality or moral support to continue representing the
people.”
