Saudi Pro League champions Al Nassr have appointed
Ange Postecoglou as their new head coach on a two-year contract, with the
Australian set to lead a squad spearheaded by Portuguese superstar Cristiano
Ronaldo.
The club confirmed the appointment in a statement,
announcing the start of a new era under the experienced manager.
"A new chapter. Mr Ange Postecoglou
as coach of the first football team at Al-Nassr Club, with a contract extending
for two seasons," the statement read.
"Our best wishes for success to him
and his staff in their journey with the global club, God willing."
Postecoglou returns to management after being
dismissed by Nottingham Forest in October, where he spent just 39 days in
charge and oversaw eight matches.
The 60-year-old began his coaching career in Australia
before taking charge of the national team, the Socceroos, in 2013. He guided
Australia to the 2014 FIFA World Cup before stepping down in 2017.
Following a successful spell in Japan, Postecoglou
enjoyed two trophy-laden seasons with Celtic before joining Tottenham Hotspur
in 2023.
His biggest achievement at Spurs came in 2025 when he
guided the North London club to the UEFA Europa League title, ending a 17-year
wait for major silverware. However, a disappointing Premier League campaign
ultimately led to his departure.
At Al Nassr, Postecoglou will now work alongside
Cristiano Ronaldo, who joined the Saudi club in 2023 and remains one of the
team's key figures as they aim to build on their domestic success and compete
for continental honours.
