The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially confirmed Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu as the party’s flagbearer for the upcoming Anambra State governorship election, presenting him with a Certificate of Return at its national headquarters in Abuja.

The decision follows the adoption of the report from the APC Anambra State governorship primary, which was chaired by Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River State. According to the report, Ukachukwu emerged victorious with 1,455 votes.

Speaking to journalists after the NWC meeting, APC’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, said the committee expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the primary election, praising it as “fair, credible, and transparent.”

APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, commended the primary election committee for a job well done and urged all aspirants and stakeholders to rally behind Ukachukwu ahead of the November 8, 2025 governorship poll.

While reacting to questions about potential presidential support for the incumbent governor, Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Ukachukwu dismissed such claims as unfounded.

“If APGA is truly popular, why are they lobbying for support from the presidency?” Ukachukwu queried. “Governor Soludo is facing the electorate for the first time on his own merit. This election will show whether he is truly popular.”

He further stated: “There is nothing like President Tinubu supporting Soludo. Our president is a loyal party man and has never and will never turn his back on the APC.”

Ukachukwu also praised President Tinubu for allowing the Anambra primaries to run without interference, describing it as a testament to the administration’s commitment to democratic values.

He said the APC is prepared for the battle ahead and pledged to unify the party, revealing plans to set up a reconciliation committee to reach out to aggrieved aspirants.

“One of the former aspirants will head the committee. We’ve already begun reaching out to those who may feel sidelined. Party politics involves movement; even APGA and PDP have witnessed similar shifts,” Ukachukwu added.
