Afrobeats stars Asake and Wizkid have reached another major milestone on the global music scene as their hit collaboration, MMS, surpassed 100 million streams on Spotify.

The achievement was announced by music tracking platform The Debut Hub in a post shared on X on Sunday. The milestone marks Asake’s eighth song and Wizkid’s 17th song to exceed 100 million streams on Spotify across all credits.

Released as part of Asake’s Lungu Boy album, “MMS” has emerged as the project’s most-streamed track since the album's release on August 8, 2024.

The song has been widely praised for blending Asake’s energetic, Yoruba-influenced sound with Wizkid’s signature smooth and melodic delivery, creating a record that resonated strongly with audiences both within and outside Africa.

Its impact was further recognized on the international stage when it earned a nomination in the Best African Music Performance category at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards, highlighting the growing global influence of Afrobeats.

The success of “MMS” also builds on the momentum generated by the duo’s collaborative project, Real Vol. 1, which was released in January 2026. The EP produced several successful tracks and enjoyed strong commercial performance across streaming platforms and international music charts.

Fans celebrated the latest milestone on social media, with many describing the song as one of the biggest Nigerian collaborations in recent years. Some users noted that “MMS” has become one of the select Nigerian songs to surpass the 100-million-stream mark on Spotify.

The achievement further strengthens the reputations of both Asake and Wizkid as two of Afrobeats’ most influential global ambassadors, while underscoring the continued rise of Nigerian music on the international stage.

As Afrobeats continues to gain worldwide recognition, milestones such as this reflect the increasing demand for African music and the growing presence of Nigerian artists on global streaming platforms and major award stages.
