Bandits kill 24, injure dozens in Kebbi, Katsina, Zamfara separate attacks

Terror attacks have continued to rock the northern region of Nigeria as armed bandits launched fresh assaults on communities across Kebbi, Katsina, and Zamfara states, leaving at least 24 people dead and several others injured.

The attacks, which happened in separate incidents within 48 hours, have once again raised concerns over the rising insecurity in parts of Northern Nigeria.

Details of the Attacks

Kebbi State Attack

In Kebbi State, the bandits reportedly invaded two villages in Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area, killing at least 12 residents. Eyewitnesses said the attackers stormed the villages on motorcycles, shooting sporadically and setting homes ablaze.

Katsina State Attack

In Katsina, another deadly attack was recorded in Faskari Local Government Area, where bandits killed 7 people and injured several others. Residents confirmed that the bandits also looted shops and rustled livestock before escaping into the forest.

Zamfara State Attack

In Zamfara State, 5 people lost their lives in an overnight raid on some rural communities. Reports indicated that several others sustained injuries while many women and children fled their homes to seek refuge in nearby towns.

Casualties and Displacement

Across the three states, the total death toll from the recent attacks has risen to 24, with dozens of residents sustaining varying degrees of injuries. Many have also been displaced from their homes, adding to the growing humanitarian crisis in the region.

Security Agencies Respond

Security agencies in the affected states have confirmed the incidents and assured that efforts are ongoing to track down the perpetrators.

The Nigerian Army and local vigilantes have reportedly launched search and rescue operations in the affected communities.

Public Outcry and Calls for Action

The renewed banditry attacks have sparked outrage among citizens and civil society organizations, who have called on the federal government to urgently strengthen security presence in rural areas.

Community leaders have also appealed for immediate humanitarian assistance for displaced residents.
