The Bauchi State Police Command has successfully
dismantled a notorious armed robbery syndicate specializing in mobile phone
snatching, arresting seven suspects, including a set of twin brothers.
The arrest followed a distress call received on May
23, 2026, reporting an ongoing robbery operation along Adamu Ajiya Street, near
Ran Road in Bauchi. According to the command's spokesperson, SP Nafiu Habib, in
a statement released on Tuesday, May 26, operatives from the 'C' Division at
Tafawa Balewa Estate responded swiftly to the scene.
The rapid police intervention resulted in the
apprehension of seven gang members. The suspects were identified as 20-year-old
Uzairu Adamu (alias Goje), 28-year-old Mohd Dahiru (alias Kansila), 21-year-old
Abubakar Usman (alias Polio), 20-year-old Buhari Suleman (alias Sino),
20-year-old Isa Muhd (alias Rio), and 20-year-old twin brothers, Hassan and
Hussaini Yusuf.
During the operation, police officers recovered a
machete and a knife from the criminals. SP Habib noted that two victims have
already been identified and have provided statements to assist with the ongoing
investigation.
He added that a manhunt is currently underway to track
down other fleeing members of the criminal network. Following preliminary
investigations, the case will be transferred to the State Criminal
Investigation Department (SCID) for a more discreet and thorough follow-up.
The Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, CP
Sani-Omolori Aliyu, commended the operatives for their prompt and professional
action. He also urged residents to continue supporting the police by providing
timely and credible information to help eradicate violent crimes across the
state.
