FC Bayern Munich secured a dramatic victory over Real
Madrid to book their place in the Champions League semi-finals after a
pulsating encounter filled with goals and late drama.
The match exploded into life almost immediately when
Arda Guler capitalized on a mistake from Manuel Neuer to give Madrid the lead
just 34 seconds in. Bayern responded quickly, with Aleksandar Pavlovic heading
home an equaliser from a Joshua Kimmich corner.
Guler struck again with a stunning free-kick to
restore Madrid’s lead, but the momentum continued to swing. Harry Kane brought
Bayern level in the tie before Kylian Mbappe put Madrid back ahead on the night
just before halftime, leaving the aggregate score finely balanced.
The second half saw both sides create chances, but the
game turned when Eduardo Camavinga was sent off late on, reducing Madrid to ten
men.
Bayern capitalized on the advantage, with Luis Diaz
firing in a decisive goal from distance after a deflection. Moments later,
Michael Olise sealed the win with a brilliant curling strike to confirm
Bayern’s progression.
Tempers flared after the final whistle, with Guler
shown a straight red card following a confrontation with the referee.
The result marks Bayern’s first knockout-stage victory
over Real Madrid since 2012 and sets up a semi-final clash against Paris
Saint-Germain, managed by Luis Enrique.
