The Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the death of three
officers and the disappearance of seven others following a deadly
ambush on security personnel in Katsina-Ala, Benue State, on Friday,
September 19, 2025.
In a statement released by Force Public Relations
Officer Benjamin Hundeyin, the Commissioner of Police in Benue, CP
Innocent Ifeanyi Emenari, is currently spearheading a rescue mission to
locate the missing officers and track down the perpetrators. Hundeyin added
that several suspects have already been arrested and are providing
investigators with “useful information.”
Reacting to the incident, Inspector-General of
Police (IGP) Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun strongly condemned the attack,
describing it as “cruel, unwarranted, and an affront to the good people of
Benue State.” He further ordered the deployment of additional tactical
units to the troubled axis and vowed that the criminal networks responsible
would be completely dismantled.
The Force also called on residents to remain calm and
cooperate with security agencies. It reassured the public that all necessary
measures are being taken to rescue the missing officers and restore
peace across Katsina-Ala and neighboring communities.
