Nigerian politician, Dino Melaye, has criticised
former presidential candidate Peter Obi following his defection from the
African Democratic Congress (ADC) to the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC).
In a post shared on Instagram, Melaye questioned Obi’s
political resilience, arguing that his repeated exits from political parties
suggest an inability to handle internal crises. He further claimed that if Obi
cannot manage party-level challenges, he may struggle with governing a complex
country like Nigeria.
Melaye alleged that the NDC is an “agency” of the
ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), suggesting political coordination
between the two groups.
He also referenced Obi’s political history, noting his
movements across several parties, including APGA, PDP, Labour Party, ADC, and
now NDC, implying that he has consistently avoided competitive party primaries.
Obi, on his part, had announced his resignation from
the ADC on Sunday, May 3, citing what he described as a “toxic” political
environment and internal instability within the party. He has since joined the
NDC as part of ongoing political realignments ahead of the 2027 general
elections.
