The Department of State Services (DSS) has rearrested
a notorious Ansaru terrorist, Abdulazeez Obadaki, who had been on the
wanted list since the 2022 Kuje prison break.
Obadaki was among the 879 inmates who escaped from
the Kuje Custodial Centre in the Federal Capital Territory after the
facility was attacked by Islamic State-linked militants in a coordinated
nighttime assault.
He is believed to be the mastermind behind several
deadly attacks, including the Uromi bank robberies in Edo State and the fatal
shooting at Deeper Life College in Okene, Kogi State.
A security source within the DSS confirmed the
rearrest but declined to provide operational details.
Obadaki’s capture comes nearly three months after the
National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, announced the arrest of two men
identified as leaders of the Ansaru terrorist group, signaling intensified
counterterrorism efforts across the country.
