The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has handed over recovered illicit drugs and substances, along with arrested suspects, to the FCT Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

The handover was carried out on Friday, August 21, 2026, by the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi.

Speaking during the exercise, Sanusi said that although the police have the authority to investigate and prosecute drug-related offences, the Command considers strong cooperation with other law enforcement agencies essential to effectively tackle crime in the FCT.

He particularly highlighted the importance of working closely with the NDLEA, whose statutory responsibilities include the investigation and prosecution of drug-related offences.

Receiving the recovered substances and suspects on behalf of the NDLEA FCT Strategic Command, the agency’s Public Relations Officer, ACN Samuel Orji, thanked the Commissioner of Police for strengthening inter-agency collaboration.

Orji assured that the suspects would undergo proper investigation and, where appropriate, be prosecuted in accordance with relevant laws.

The FCT Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening cooperation with sister security agencies and other stakeholders as part of efforts to protect residents and maintain security across the Federal Capital Territory.

The Command also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious individuals or activities to the nearest police station or through its emergency contact lines.
