Edo State Governor,
Monday Okpebholo has taken
positive and proactive steps to get Edo people out of suffering and improve their living condition,
as the government approves 14 contracts
in the oil producing areas of the state and commence repairs of the 23.4
kilometers bad spots on the Federal government road along the Benin- Sapele
road axis in the state,
The Governor who believes that it is very important
that the people remain the major focus of his administration is
creating an enabling environment that will truly guarantee happiness of the people in continuation of
the development plan for the state
The Edo State Commissioner for Information and
Communication, Hon Paul Ohonbamu who disclosed this in Benin City, noted that
the agony of motorists plying the Federal government road along the Sapele road
axis which was neglected by the former Governor, Godwin Obaseki will soon
become a thing of the past as repair works commenced immediately it was approved by the State Executive Council,
Exco chaired by the Chairman in Council, His Excellency, Governor Monday Okpebholo.
The 14 contracts approved in the oil producing areas
of Ikpoba Okha, Orhionmwon and Ovia North East local government areas include
the construction of markets, Jetty, roads, and provision of electricity that
will help to develop the oil producing communities.
"The EXCO approved the construction of
Orogu road and adjoining streets, Construction of Oza internal roads in Orhionmwon local government area, Construction of
several streets in Ikpoba Okha
Local government area, Construction of Osarieme street, Ikpoba Okha local
government, grading of earth works in Orhionmwon local government
"Others are the
Construction of
Edosonmwan street in Ovia North East, Construction of Obe Community market,
Orhionmwon local government area,
Construction of Ajimogha water project in Ikpoba Okha, Supply and installation
of electricity to communities across the three
local governments.
"There is also 3.5 kilometers internal roads at
Ogieda village in South Ibie, Etsako West local government area, as well as
some roads, especially those Federal roads along the Sapele road axis down the
bypass.
"Those bad spots that the former governor
Obaseki said were Federal roads have been approved. The Chairman in
Council said he cannot wait for the Federal government and thereby see the citizens of the state
pass through such harrowing situation on the road.
"The Exco
also approved work on the erosion spots on Ekenwan road through the Catholic
Charismatic Mission axis, to ensure that the roads are motorable," the
Commissioner added.
