Sources confirmed to Channels Television on
Friday that Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, who has been away from
the state, is expected to return soon.
His anticipated return follows months of political
tension involving Fubara, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT),
Nyesom Wike, and the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Martin Amaewhule.
In the wake of the crisis, President Bola Tinubu had
suspended Governor Fubara, his deputy Ngozi Odu, and members of the State
Assembly for six months.
On Wednesday, however, the President announced the end
of the emergency rule in Rivers. While the House of Assembly reconvened on
Thursday, Governor Fubara was noticeably absent at the Government House,
despite hundreds of supporters gathering to welcome him.
